Basil

Basil is one of my favorite herbs. I put it in almost every dish, pasta sauces, meats, salads, its great. I especially love the fresh leaves from the garden, chop it up and use it as part of my marinade, or toss it in a salad.

This year, I decided to dry some basil, so I have it throughout the winter, and I won't have to buy it.

I had one basil plant in a pot, but my father's garden, had many basil plants. So, I took the liberty of taking some!

Here are some pictures of the process to dry them.

I am hoping to have my own herb garden next season.

Friday nights! Nacho night!

Some Friday nights you just want something bad...and easy to make.
That's why some Friday nights we've turned to making nachos!
Ingredients well that all depends on you, and what you like to top it with.
Some of our favourites:

Red or green peppers, chopped
Tomatoes, chopped
Ground pork
Red onion, chopped
Lots of cheese, mozzarella, cheddar
Tostitos of course!!!

We cook the meat, seasoned with salt, pepper, basil, oregano...
Layer meat, cheese and peppers, cook in oven for 10-15 minutes then top with tomatoes and red onion.

Enjoy with side of sour cream or hot sauce.

Wood oven pizza!

Wednesday May 15 we headed out for some wood oven pizza.
We finally tried out Tenessy Willems in Hintonburg.

Started off with a bowl of Caesar salad... Delicious, the best Caesar salad ever!!! A meal in itself.

Then came the pizzas:

Capricciosa

Amazing! Thin thin crust pizza, so good you must try it!!!!

meatloaf

Meatloaf - one of my favourite comfort foods

Recipe:
Ground meat, I used ground beef for meatloaf
1 egg
Bread crumbs, I used seasoned breadcrumbs adds to the taste
Salt and pepper
Chili powder
Worcestershire sauce
Milk
Basilbacon strips(wrap meatloaf with bacon strips)
shredded cheese (add cheese on top)

bake in oven about one hour, or until meat brown!
Enjoy! 

Valentine's dinner

Valentine's dinner, my husband decided he was making me a romantic dinner.
I had no idea what he was making and was looking forward to it.

On our way home we stopped by Suzy Q doughnuts as our dessert.

On the menu:
Lamb chops 
roasted potatoes 
brussel sprouts

Red wine 

Followed by an assortment of doughnuts.

Nacho dip - Superbowl Sunday!

Here is what you need:
Bag of nacho chips (your preference)

Green pepper
Green onions (2-3)
Tomatoes (2)
Cheddar and mozzarella cheese
Salsa

sour cream
Philadelphia cream cheese
Mayonnaise

Chop all veggies together
Mix cream cheese, sour cream and mayo together, pour in dish, spread salsa, then layer of shredded cheese, then veggies.

Start dipping!!!
